Recommended Dosage:
10 to 40 drops 3 times per day.
Medicinal Use*: Effective expectorant, and has been used for this purpose since
ancient times. Modern cough syrups often include
Licorice Root extract as an ingredient.
Additionally, Licorice Root may be useful in
conventional and naturopathic medicine for both
mouth ulcers and peptic ulcers Licorice Root is
also a mild laxative and may be used as a
topical antiviral agent for shingles,
ophthalmic, oral or genital herpes. The compound
glycyrrhizic acid, found in Licorice Root, is
now routinely used throughout Japan for the
treatment and control of chronic viral
hepatitis. Licorice Root affects the body's
endocrine system as it contains isoflavones (phytoestrogens).
Consuming Licorice Root can prevent hyperkalemia.
Licorice Root can be used to treat ileitis,
leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and
Crohn's disease as it is antispasmodic in the
bowels.
